Currently…

I’m currently…

Listening to acoustic covers on Spotify.

Loving the rice my husband just made. Each grain was perfect!

Drinking not enough water.

Thinking about having to leave in a few minutes to buy flowers and then take an Uber to a place kinda far so I can see two of my students in a community theatre production of Shrek: The Musical. I really don’t want to do this, but I promised and one of the Moms bought me a ticket so…

Wanting to go to sleep. I was up until 2am last night. Again.

Procrastinating assessing student writing. So boring. The writing is great – highlighting rubrics are boring as hell.

Needing to do more laundry.

Reading Thick by Tressie McMillan Cottom.

Worrying about getting my student blogs up and running for the first of April.

Wondering if I can get my student assessments done before April break so I don’t have to do any school work on vacation.

Anticipating a meeting with some principals from South Africa with whom we can hopefully engage in some cross cultural collaboration. One of the things they are interested in learning more about is digital writing and video blogging so I am going to tell them about the SoLSC!

I actually wrote a different blog post but it ended up being too personal to share, so I quickly whipped this up instead.

  1. You have a lot going on! It can be so tough to get motivated to see our students doing something non-school related on the weekends – but it means so much to them and their parents. So nice that you brought flowers, too.
    Enjoy your well-deserved Spring break.

  2. What Faith said. I think my favourite part is that you wrote an entire post, ditched it as too personal – and then wrote again. Enjoy the rice, drink some water, and I hope you get some sleep. I, too, hate the rubrics. Oh, the rubrics! I keep re-writing them as if that will make them better. (It won’t, but it’s almost better than using them.) May you manage to finish the assessments before your break and wow the principals from South Africa with SoLC.

  3. I love Currently posts, always. I always do one this month and save it for a rainy day when everything writey that I can think of feels so blah and I need a boost. Maja Wilson helped me understand why I think rubrics are so pointless and soul-sucking. And thanks for reminding me that I intended to buy Thick.
